Project Description

Project Title:  View help for Project Title HIFLD OPEN
Summary:  View help for Summary This dataset contains U.S. maritime limits and maritime boundaries as developed by NOAA’s Office of Coast Survey. It includes the 12 nautical mile Territorial Sea, 24 nautical mile Contiguous Zone, and 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), measured from the U.S. normal baseline depicted on NOAA charts.
It reflects an ongoing multi-year project begun in 2002 to re-evaluate the U.S. baseline using the most recent NOAA nautical charts and authoritative supplemental sources.
The dataset also includes boundaries with adjacent or opposite nations and the U.S.–Canada International Boundary on land and in the Great Lakes.
