Project Description

Monthly motor fuel report. 
The Office of Highway Policy Information (OHPI) collects, analyzes, compiles, and disseminates State-reported data depicting the gross volume of fuel (i.e., gasoline and gasohol, and special fuels) distributed for consumption and taxed accordingly on a monthly basis. This data is based on information reported by wholesale fuel suppliers and distributors and is managed within the OHPI’s Fuels and Financial Analysis System for Highways (FASH). The portion of the data which depicts the fuel volumes distributed for on-highway use for each State (as determined by OHPI) is then used to estimate each State’s annual payment into the Highway Trust Fund (HTF). This data is ultimately used as an input into the process for determining the annual apportionment of Federal-aid highway program funding to States.
